Exploring Gankeng Hakka Village

Nestled in Shenzhen’s Longgang District, Gankeng Hakka Town is a hidden gem—a centuries-old Hakka village with over 300 years of history, known as “Little Lijiang” for its preserved earthen buildings, watchtowers, and winding alleys.

Recently, I wandered through its cobblestone streets, vibrant markets, and lush surroundings, and my Insta360 camera (the X3, ONE R to be exact) sturned the experience into a seamless, immersive adventure. Here’s how this 360-degree powerhouse let me soak in Gankeng’s charm while capturing every moment, worry-free.

Why the Insta360 for Gankeng?

Gankeng’s narrow paths, towering tulou (earthen buildings), and bustling cultural scenes like the Nanxiang Building or Gankeng Cannon Tower begged to be explored hands-free.
The Insta360 compact design and 360-degree capture were perfect!

The best part? I didn’t have to stop to take photos. I hit record, immersed myself in the village’s energy, and let the Insta360 handle the rest, picking up the intricate details of hanging umbrellas and paintings on the wall.

Filming Freely, Framing Later

As I wandered Gankeng’s alleys, the camera’s FlowState stabilization (or Horizon Lock, depending on your model) kept the footage silky smooth, even as I navigated uneven paths. I didn’t stress about framing shots in the moment—I simply enjoyed the stroll, knowing I could perfect the angles later.

Back home,  the “shoot first, frame later” approach shone here:
Snapshots? A game-changer.
With a tap of the “Snapshot” button in the app or Studio, I exported high-quality  PureShot stills from my video—crisp images,  I didn’t have to pause mid-stroll to snap photos with my iphone, risking spoiling the video—I captured it all in video and pulled the perfect moments later.

Tech That Lets You Live in the Moment

The Insta360’s Invisible Selfie Stick feature was a standout, creating floating, third-person shots as I explored Gankeng’s winding paths, making it look like I had a drone following me through the village.

Using the Insta360 in Gankeng wasn’t just about capturing content—it was about living the moment. I didn’t have to stop, pose, or second-guess my shots.
Instead, I soaked in the sights, sounds, and stories of the Hakka village, knowing I could craft my narrative later.
